I didn’t feel important as goalkeeper – Burna Boy on why he changed careers
Burna Boy explained why he changed careers, stating that he
didn't feel important as a goalkeeper.
Burna Boy, the Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, also
known as Damini Ogulu, disclosed in a conversation with British-Nigerian media
personality Julie Adenuga that he began his career as a footballer. He
expressed his dissatisfaction with his role as a goalkeeper, as he didn't feel
important despite being skilled at it.
In an interview, Burna Boy expressed his love
for football and admitted that he excelled in playing the sport. However, he
made the decision to stop pursuing it because he found goalkeeping to be
unfulfilling. He felt that it didn't make him feel important or necessary for
the team's success. Burna Boy didn't want to spend his life feeling that way.
Since releasing his debut single
'Like To Party' in 2011, Burna Boy has launched five studio albums. His fourth
studio album, 'Twice As Tall,' made history by being the first and only
Nigerian album to win a Grammy award in 2021.
