Patriots have "real interest" in QB Will Levis
Last week, quarterback Will Levis paid a visit to Foxboro
before the draft, which was unexpected. However, a recent report suggests that
the Patriots had more than just a routine checkup in mind when they welcomed
the former Kentucky QB. Mike Giardi claims that the Patriots have a genuine
interest in Levis, who has gained popularity in the draft in recent weeks.
However, Giardi also mentioned that not everyone within the organization shares
this belief about Levis.
Additionally, Giardi mentioned that although Levis has
undeniable physical talents, some players didn't find him particularly
charismatic either. Giardi raised the question of whether the quality of
leadership or the "it factor" can be learned. This report supports
Albert Breer's recent statement that some individuals within the Patriots
organization are keen on Levis.
Levis has played 24 games for Kentucky, completing 65.7% of
his passes, throwing for 5,232 yards (8.2 Y/A), 43 touchdowns, and 23
interceptions. He also ran for 11 touchdowns. It is uncertain whether Levis
will still be available when the Patriots make their No. 14 pick in the first
round on Thursday night.
According to NFL insider Mike Giardi, the New England
Patriots have a genuine interest in Will Levis, who played as a quarterback for
Kentucky last season. Levis performed impressively, throwing for 2,406 yards,
19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. As the draft approaches, the rumors
linking Levis to the Patriots have intensified, and the team reportedly met
with him last week, one of their final draft visits.
This year's quarterback class is top-heavy, with
quarterbacks like Alabama's Bryce Young and Ohio State's C. J. Stroud leading
the group. It is possible that the Patriots are considering Levis as a
potential option in comparison to Mac Jones, who has been generating
significant buzz this offseason. If the Patriots do select Levis, it would make
for an intriguing storyline, given the growing hype surrounding Jones.
